The Pickwick Place at Sunset
My favorite set of photos on wedding day is by far the sunset pictures. This is when golden hour falls into blue hour, and you really get to play with a variety of lighting conditions. Plus…sun flares.
I’ve had the pleasure of shooting multiple couples at Pickwick and every time the sunset never disappoints. That said, the beginning of sunset can be a little harsh with the lack of any large tree line. If you catch it in the front of golden hour, when the sun is a little too strong and high still, I highly recommend checking out the orchard.
Pickwick Itself
The PickWick Place sits right off the highway in Bucyrus Ohio. And, if you’ve never been, let me tell you Bucyrus has a TON of open fields. In fact, The Pickwick Place itself sits on an orchard and flower field itself. All this coupled together means comes sunset, you get a beautiful sunset with lots of oranges, browns, and greens.
Additionally, there’s a lot to shoot through. Everything from loose greenery, to the orchard trees, to what they have growing in the field
In the event that it rains, the orchard also makes for a great location as the greens really darken into a deep sage in the dampness. Bring an umbrella, though if this is the case. You’ll also have the opportunity to use the shop and (potentially) the greenhouse.
